happy birthday.

Thanks for being born. You are two years old today. You've grown so much this past year.
You are responsible, you watch out for your sis, you stopped eating all the chickens,
& you've become quite the swimmer
I'm proud of you.
Thanks for waking me up when I over sleep everyday for work.
Thanks for being my best friend.
Thanks for making me smile everyday. Thanks for knowing when I need a hug.
You are a true joy. I love you.

bacon & bones

Things have been pretty strange around home lately. Mom and Dad went somewhere and I stayed here. Sarah stayed with me and I tricked her a lot. For example, she didn’t know I know how to find all the food that ever existed, so I was good for a while, and then I finished it all in one morning while she was in the shower. She called me a “bidge” or something. Second of all, I realized that when it's really hot my paws get really hot walking, so I started scratching the inside of my water bowl so my feet get wet. Also, I figured out that jumping in water is very refreshing. I'm a little chunky, so I sink when I can’t really touch the bottom, but I figured out how to hang on the side, so I can chill poolside like that yo. Also, we have new neighbors. I keep barking at the man when he rides that loud bike, but other than that they seem cool.
Give me all the bacon and bones,
-Ryder

Ryder: The Beekeeper.

I wake up everyday when I hear Arnold crow. I think it sounds like a scream. He must not like to wake up, I do though, so I howl a little bit, but only so Dad will wake up and come get us out.
First thing I do is check and see if Kola has any food pieces in the floor of her crate...she usually bites me but I don't care.
Next thing is to check and see if there are any food pieces on the floor. Usually there aren't any so I go outside to pee and to poop, but sometimes I can't poop until after breakfast.
When we go inside I check to make sure Mom's alive in the bed and I smell her eyes but she tells me to get out, so I go lick Dad's face while he puts on his shoes.
Then he feeds us...this is the best part of the day. I eat mine first and then finish Kola's when she's not looking.
Most days we take a nap while Mom and Dad are at work.
When they get home I either watch dad do projects, bark at people and their dogs, chase Kola, sniff for food, or do my new favorite thing...beekeep.
Mom and Dad think they're beekeepers, but I check on the bees everyday, they only check once a week. I get stung sometimes, but I know they're just trying to hug me. Someday I think I'll get some honey and that's why I check on them, to see if they dripped any in the grass or anything.
Right now I feel like swimming, or eating pepperonis.
See ya.
-Ryder.

life lately.
the pups are happy about the spring weather.
i did some work in the garden over the weekend.
Ben still loves his Raleigh road bike.
my azalea is blooming.
for Sunday breakfast we ate at a little dive bar diner, Barbara Lee's Kitchen--i ordered the best waffle.
the whole experience filled me with nostalgia.
my parents always use to take me to those kinds of places when i was a little girl.
we went to a quaint diner like that in Montana after we got out of the back country in Glacier.
good things.

Ruff.

We just had a great weekend, full of time spent with friends, snuggling in bed with the poochies, egg collecting, & lots of laughing. The dogs have been sleepy lately, my thought is because the weather keeps changing--one day it is bright, warm, & sunny & the next there are two inches of snow on the ground, its confusing. Ryder still eats everything in sight, even Ben's breakfast (yogurt-granola goodness). Kola loves when I take her running, everyday she begs for the leash so she can get her chance to hit the road.
Life is simple & sweet, I am thankful.
