wallflower.

We saw this movie last week. I found it to be the best film I've seen all year, and a touching story on top of that.
It had everything from realistic expectations of high school and comic relief, to a depiction of true friendship found in the
common ground of being an outsider and honesty about the darkest of life experiences.
I was blown away by the acting and the portrayal of normal high schoolers identifying with one another across
the boundaries of age, sex, style, and even musical preference.
It also had a healthy dose of all things 90s.

dispersion

I have stepped into streams
As softly as a child
In a graveyard.
Ripples explode
Where skin meets water
And disperse on bated breath
As the morning sun burns away
The gravestone's ghostly sheen.

fall.

It's fall y'all! My favorite season is here & I'm so happy!
Things I love:
Pumpkin doughnuts from Please & Thank You.
Warm Cafe Miele's from Sunergos.
Making leaf angels with Ryder.
Wearing flannel.
Celebrating Carol's birthday.
Eating pumpkin rolls for three days straight at the St. James Art Show.
Putting my wool socks on every morning.
Walking the pups & stopping to smell the colors of the ever changing trees.
Making soup & eating grilled cheese at least four times a week.
Yep. I'm seriously so thankful fall is here & I can layer up.
So.Much.Goodness.

saturday

Last Saturday we hung out with Sarah in her Airstream at Flowerland Nursery.
We watched her amazingness as she pulled shots, made pour over, & connected with her regulars.
I loved walking through the nursery, seeing succulents I've
never heard of before, meeting Berkeley locals, & hanging out with the shop pup.
After drinking two cappuccinos & sharing homemade biscuits & doughnuts we made our way to Napa.
We stopped at V.Sattui Winery, sampled baller cheeses, tasted insanely good wine,
& shared the best chocolate espresso cake I've ever had!
Oh. My. Wow.
I'm really thankful for the time I had in Cali, it was so easy & effortless.
Sweet Em & Sarah spoiled me rotten & made me feel so welcome.
Thanks for being the best.

san francisco

San Francisco was good to us!
We were able to see Ben Howard at The Filmore.
It was the best concert I've ever been to! So. Much. Talent.
We spent the day wandering around the city with no particular plan in mind.
City Lights Bookstore was a must because of all the stories Benj had told me.
It was an adventure for sure, we saw some really interesting people along the way.
We stumbled upon Cafe Trieste, shared a latte & a slice of German chocolate cake.
After the cafe we went over to pier39 to see the sea lions--best decision ever.
There's no one I'd rather get lost with, in a crazy big city, than Em--thanks for being so easy girl!

yosemite

Last week I went to Cali with my sweet friend Em to visit her twinner Sarah
We mainly stayed in Berkeley but we were able to get out & do some exploring.
We went on a little road trip to Yosemite for a hiking & camping extravaganza!
Me & Em really wanted to hike to Half Dome.
They took the cables down two days before we got there so we set out for Sub Dome.
We made it 4.5 miles up & were abruptly stopped by rain so we headed back down the mountain.
It was one of the most peaceful hikes I've ever been on.
There were barely any hikers but the ones we did run into were the nicest.
We had the opportunity to share some amazing stories & laughs.
I've been to a lot of national parks but Yose was definitely put on my list of places to go back.
We want to go there, stay a month, & take a rock climbing class.
Who's in?
